Preparing Your Outdoor Space for Autumn Entertaining

Summer has packed its bags, taken the flies with it, and left us with arguably the best season of the year: Autumn. If you think the outdoor entertaining season ends when the mercury drops below 25, you're doing it wrong. Here's how to prep your alfresco area for crisp evenings, good wine, and zero sweat.

1. Fire Up

Let's be honest, nothing beats staring into a fire while solving the world's problems with a cold one in hand. Whether it's a rustic cast iron bowl or a sleek modern gas pit, a fire feature is the non-negotiable heart of autumn entertaining.

2. Rug Up

You don't need to build a sunroom to stay warm. Soft furnishings are your best mate here. Throw some heavy wool blankets over your outdoor lounge, add some weather-resistant cushions, and maybe even invest in a quality outdoor rug to stop the cold seeping up through the deck.

3. Light Up

The sun knocks off earlier in autumn, so you'll need to pick up the slack. Ditch the harsh floodlights for festoon lights strung overhead or some strategically placed lanterns. It sets the mood and stops your guests from tripping over the dog.

Get out there and enjoy the crisp air before winter properly sets in.
