Outdoor Loungers: The Ultimate Relaxation Experience

Outdoor loungers range from adjustable sun loungers to daybeds and reclining chairs. The right choice depends on the available space, preferred seating position, materials, shade and how exposed the furniture will be.

Choose the lounger style for how you relax

Adjustable Sun Loungers suit reclining and poolside use, while Outdoor Day Beds provide a larger lounging surface. Fixed lounge chairs create a more upright seating position. Features vary by model, so check the individual design rather than assuming every lounger adjusts, folds or stacks.

Measure the footprint in use

A reclining backrest, foot section or daybed canopy can increase the space a lounger needs. Measure the product in its intended position and leave practical circulation around it. If an umbrella or other shade product will sit nearby, allow for its base, frame and operating space as well.

Compare materials and Australian exposure

Outdoor loungers can combine aluminium, steel, timber, synthetic weave, rope and fabrics. UV, rain, humidity and coastal salt can affect products differently. Check the manufacturer's exposure and maintenance guidance for the exact product.

Think about cushions and storage

Cushions can improve comfort but may have different weather and storage requirements from the furniture frame. Check whether covers are removable and what the manufacturer recommends during rain or extended periods of non-use. Water-resistant fabric should not automatically be treated as suitable for prolonged uncovered exposure.

Useful features

Adjustable backrests, wheels, folding frames and stackable designs can make loungers easier to position or store where those features are included. Compare dimensions and construction alongside appearance.

Care and placement

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning frames, fabrics and moving components. Consider how sun and shade move through the area during the day and store or cover the furniture during extended periods of non-use where recommended.
